Control
Room Blast Wall
Client
requirements
Design,
Supply, Install and Provide Certification for a Blast resistant
barrier to an existing control room located inside one of the
Production Buildings. Blast resitance of 5KN/m² required.
The
new barrier was to be light weight so that no additional foundations
would be required as the control room is located on second floor of
building.
The
installation could not affect day to day operations in the area. No
wet trades allowed in area.
Full
certification of the installed system to be provided by single
source.
Modubuild
Solution
For
this application Modubuild Visited site and carried out a detailed
site survey. Following this a full schedule of works was submitted to
our client. A detailed design was then carried out and drawings were
issued to client for approval. Following approval of design the Blast
wall framework and panels were manufactured off site. The Kit
assembly was shipped to site on the agreed date and installation was
completed within one week. The Blast wall was lined with a decorative
cladding to match surroundings. The package included Blast resistant
Doors and windows.

Requirements
Design,
Supply, Install and certify blast resistant barriers to 3 sides of
production room located at the perimeter of the building.
One
of the walls needed to be installed around existing pipe /service
support structure so that room space would not be reduced. Wall
thickness could not exceed 180mm.
Finish
of blast wall needed to exactly match finish of the Cleanroom walls
in surrounding areas.
Full
certification of installation to be provided including doors, access
hatch’s, service penetrations etc.
Modubuild
Solution
For
this application Modubuild designed a blast wall consisting of
bespoke framework with Durasteel panels on blast side of wall. The
Framework was supplied to site in Kit form so that installation could
be very quick. The System also included 15mm Cleanroom Lining with
recessed base to internal side, blast resistant doors and access
hatch’s, blast protection to service penetration.
